Digital Architect combines your media center and architecture

Shadi + companyTrying to set up a decent media network in a home can sometimes be a pain, especially when your home isn’t really built for it.  You might need to drill a few holes in some walls to run some cables or to hang an LCD or plasma HDTV.  Then there’s the challenge of hiding all those wires and actually setting up everything the way you want it, which can take quite a while.  Wouldn’t it be nice if your home came fully equipped with everything you need, or if you could have someone make your home network into more than just everything connected to a central server?

Shadi + company can do just that.  They have a short documentary called “Digital Architect” about everything they do over at Cisco’s Digital Cribs.  From what I can see in the documentary, it would cost quite a bit of money, but it is truly amazing.

Their goal seems to be bringing all of your media into every room where you might want it, but keeping it all in one space.  So it is a home media network, but there is obviously also a lot of the architecture brought it.  The video sort of speaks for itself, but I can only imagine how nice it is to actually have LCD HDTVs sliding along ceiling to different viewpoint of the room, or walls that can slide and turn around to hide, show or move the TVs attached to them.

Shadi + company’s style probably isn’t for everyone, but It certainly is usable.  Their vision seems to be a great one either way.  I can only hope that eventually this sort of stuff will be much more widely available, and affordable for everyone that wants it.
