Dell makes the move to SSDs

One thing that seems to get geeks and laptop enthusiasts alike riled up lately is the transition from platter-based hard drives to solid state drives being made by many companies. These drives, similar to that of your USB thumb drive, give off very little heat, have absolutely no moving parts and require much less power to run. All great features to help you save that precious battery life and make your computer run and boot much faster.

The ultramobile 12.1-inch Dell Latitude D420 and semi-rugged 14-inch D620 ATG laptops are the first in the Dell line to get the SSD upgrade, which is a 32GB 1.8-inch drive from SanDisk. It isn’t the cheapest upgrade coming in at $549 but as long as you got the company credit card to take care of it, you may as well treat yourself.
