You don’t have to be Bill Gates to have that techy, futuristic home hard-wired for your every electronic whim (although it wouldn’t hurt). D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions developer for consumers and businesses, just dropped its new Coax Ethernet Adapter Kit (DXN-221) that will revolutionize your home electronics experience with a few simple connections. The kit is designed to seamlessly connect into your existing coaxial wiring and extend internet, music, games and other applications anywhere you need them.
Forget those messy add-on wiring jobs, simply connect the D-Link adapter to your home network router via Ethernet cable and then plug into the existing coaxial cable network. A second adapter can be connected anywhere you have another coaxial jack and then used to hook up any Ethernet-ready device. You can also hook the second adapter up to a switch and have multi-device connectivity. If you want to wire additional rooms, you can purchase additional adapters separately and power the network anywhere with coaxial access.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the new kit is that it’s designed for large bandwidth apps like HD media streaming, music sharing, and multi-player gaming, so that you’re able to run those crucial apps all over the home without being penned up at the desk. Wire in those DVRs, game consoles and media players central to your home entertainment system and have the multimedia system you’ve long dreamed about.
AJ Wang, D-Link’s chief technical officer, sums it up: “With simplified user setup, coaxial networking support, the ability to coexist with other coaxial devices, and fast networking speeds, our Coax Ethernet Adapter Kit delivers a simplified networking solution that makes it easy for consumers to enjoy the benefits of a digital home designed for high-definition media streaming, online gaming and other emerging applications.“
The kit is Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) certified and able to deliver HDTV, digital media and high speed data without interference or lag. It operates in the 800-1500 MHz range and won’t interfere with other transmissions.
The Coax Ethernet Adapter Kit will retail for $199.99 and will be available within the near future. Additional adapters (DXN-220) will run $109.99.
