A little over a month ago, Cowon announces a few new PMP’s including the S9 and the O2. At that time, the release date of the two weren’t known. Recently, Cowon announced they would be available in November.
Let’s recap what exactly these PMP’s are and what makes them special. The O2 PMP comes with a big 4.3 inch AMOLED touchscreen, DMB receiver, an amazing 9 hours of video playback, and supports so many formats such as DivX, XviD, MPEG-4 SP/ASP, WMV 9/8/7, M-JPEG, MPEG1, MPEG-1 Layer 1/2/3, WMA, AAC3, AAC, FLAC, OGG Vorvis, OGG FLAC, Apple Lossless, True Audio, Monkey Audio, MusePack, WavPack, G.726 and PCM. Wow, with all those formats I’m sure you can find a way to get all your audio and video playing on the O2.
The S9 PMP comes with a smaller touchscreen measuring out at 3.3 inches. It also comes with a DMB receiver, dual core processor, FM Tuner, and 40 hours of battery life when playing audio. I imagine it supports similar formats like the O2. Unfortunately, no real prices have been announced for these two, however, the O2 should have a price similar to Cowon’s A3, around $350.
