by JG Mason on Jan 6, 2008 at 10:51 AM

LG is about to give their CES 2008 Press conference here at the Venetian in Las Vegas.  Gadgetell’s live blog will keep you up to date, so you don’t need to trek through the desert like our team.  Last night LG showed off its latest phones like the Voyager and Venus.  We expect to see more touch screen and hope the to see some of LGs MP3 players make it stateside.

The lights dim and here we go (as always, hit CTRL R or F5 to refresh):

Question from USA Today, to comment on LGs thoughts on Blu-ray vs HD DVD.  They agree the balance of power has tipped, but they are moving forward with supplying dual format units.  Translation: we are letting consumers make the decision, not us.

Kenwood and nielsen will be working with LG and Harris on MPH.  And yes, I still don’t know what the “h” stands for in MPH.  Hair?  Harpie?  Hotdogs?  I’ve got nothing and it is clear he isn’t going to tell me.  And he is done and the floor is opened up for questions.

Now Howard Lance from Harris Corporation is speaking about their partnership with LG.  Harris is facilitating the broadcasting trials.  Feb 2009 is when they expect to get MPH to fruition.  They see news, weather, sports and live events as the big drivers in the market and lots of local content.  A lot of money is being put into MPH by both LG and Harris.  They are betting big.
