CES 2007: Pioneer Press Conference

Ken Shioda, the GM for display product, has taken the stage at Pioneer’s CES press announcement. Pioneer has continued to stand behind their plasma technology by introducing a new line of displays with deeper blacks and brighter colors. With the corporate restructure this past year, they agreed to start from scratch and redesign the displays from scratch with all components working together. There is a new panel, new color filter, and a new ASIC Video processor. Pioneer has invented a new way to charge the cells in the plasma to make the black level extremely deeper and “best picture quality.” Pioneer also defended their positioning saying that they were not looking to be the cheapest or biggest, but the best. The new models will be available in the US in early summer.
If you are looking for film-like quality from your display, Pioneer has announced the Pioneer Elite PureVision 50” 1080p plasma display. Paired with a Blu-ray Disc player and A/V receivers, it can handle the 1080p 24Hz rate needed to preserve a feature film’s original sequence. The Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1 Blu-ray Disc player can handle and output a 1080p 24Hz signal for natural, high quality film reproduction of Blu-ray Disc titles. Finally, the Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS and VSX-84TXSi A/V receivers have been updated with HDMI inputs for the specific purpose of transferring the large amounts of high definition that a 1080p signal provides.
