Cell phone use may soon be allowed in-flight
Please don’t let this be true!
Passengers could soon be using their mobile phones on planes flying through European airspace. Plans have been developed across EU countries to introduce technology which permits mobile calls without risk of interference with aircraft systems.
The very thought of sitting next to someone chatting away on a plane is enough to make we want to open the door and throw them out - and I am not even on a plane right now!
This nightmare could be with us as soon as next year as “the regulator said that the technology could be implemented next year”, initially for 2G phones but potentially for 3G phones as well.
The European Union has recommended to member states that the plan go ahead and space on the airwaves has been reserved for the technology.
Thankfully cell phone use on planes will remain forbidden in the US.

Business travelers and others want to make calls during flight, and airlines and wireless companies want to make revenue from this service, but most people onboard don’t want to be bothered by people yapping while they fly. So, why not have the airlines pass a rule that says you can use your cell phone during fight, but only if you use a ZipIt (http://www.ZipItInc.com) like device? This makes a Win-Win-Win situation for ALL!
