Canon’s PowerShot SX10 IS digital camera zooms in like a DSLR

If the Canon PowerShot G10 digital camera is too expensive for you, then you might want to consider getting the PowerShot SX10 IS instead. Retailing for $100 less than the G10 (at $399), the PowerShot SX10 IS is also packed with powerful features highlighted by its zooming power which is almost like the zooming power of most entry-level DSLR cameras.
With its wide-angle (28mm - 560 mm) lens with 20x optical zoom, the PowerShot SX10 IS is certainly a keeper for advanced photo enthusiasts. It will enable users to take long-range shots without sacrificing image quality. In fact, they can capture facial expression clearly even if they are too far away from their subjects. Like the other recently announced Canon cameras, the PowerShot SX10 IS also features the DIGIC 4 image processor together with the Servo AF function, intelligent contrast correction, advanced face detection and motion detection technology, and face-detection self-timer.
In addition, the PowerShot SX10 IS is also capable of shooting VGA-quality movies up to one hour or 4GB per clip. It also utilizes the new Voice Coil Motor for faster focusing speed while at the same time reducing image noise. Adding more functionality are the camera’s 24 shooting modes which is accessible via an SLR-style mode dial. Finally, the PowerShot SX10 IS comes with a 10 megapixel resolution and a 2.5-inch LCD screen.
The Canon PowerShot SX10 IS is slated to debut sometime in October for a retail price of $399.99. Package comes with alkaline batteries, USB interface cable, AV cable, neck strap, lens cap, lens hood and Canon’s software suite.
