Canon unveiled two camera models as additions to its Digital ELPH camera series, the PowerShot SD990 IS and SD880 IS. Boasting advanced features such as optical image stabilization and DIGIC 4 image processor, both cameras are geared for photo enthusiasts looking for a digital snapper that combines functionality and style.
The PowerShot SD990 IS packs a 14.7 megapixel resolution, 3.7x optical zoom with optical image stabilization and Canon’s latest Quick Shot Mode touting a faster shutter speed. In addition, this digital snapper also features Canon’s proprietary DIGIC 4 image processing technology which enables the camera to have an advanced face detection and advanced motion detection technology, face-detection self-timer, Servo AF, the Intelligent Contrast Correction feature and a 3-inch Pure Color LCD II. The SD990 IS will be available in black or silver design in an ultra-compact form factor. In addition the, Canon is also releasing a red limited edition of the SD990 IS in commemoration of the 100 millionth PowerShot camera manufactured by Canon.
Meanwhile, the PowerShot SD880 IS is also a power-packed point-and-shoot featuring a 10.0 megapixel resolution and 4x wide-angle optical zoom with optical image stabilization plus the DIGIC 4 image processing features similar to that of the SD990 IS. The SD880 IS will have two-toned body colors in either black and silver or gold and brown.
The PowerShot SD990 IS and SD880 IS will be available sometime in October for $399.99 and $299.99 respectively. With various accessories such as a memory card, battery, charger, wrist strap, USB and A/V interface cables and their powerful features, those price tags are definitely not bad.
