on May 14, 2007 at 06:40 PM - LINKNo, they don’t sell them on ebay. If they are buying large quantities of broken iPods, like buying any quantity o broken anythings, they are looking to supply parts for all of those iPod fixit services.
Many places offer replacement Main Boards, buttons cases, Etc. this is how they aquire them.
Considering 60 million iPods are less than 2 years old, the point is coming where there will be a much larger demand of parts, esp since the 5th gen iPod (the full HD model line) is coming up on it’s 2nd birthday.

It is just a matter of finding the right fix and feeling confident about opening up your iPod and doing things yourself. For example simple fixes like how to replace your ipod battery are readilly available online and far more cost effective than selling your iPod off or buying a new one.

on December 10, 2008 at 04:01 PM - LINKIt’s worth adding that if your iPod refuses to go into Disk Mode and you hear a noticeable clicking sound the problem might just be corrosion on the HDD cable and will need cleaned
periodically.
