BlackBerry Thunder, the details are slowly leaking out
Now that the iPhone 3G news is beginning to settle in, we are starting to get more and more non-Apple related news, with that comes a few additional details about the upcoming BlackBerry Thunder.
To begin with, there are two things to keep in mind; first, this information is still unconfirmed so its likely to change and second, the name Thunder is just a code name which will change in time.
Moving on we are hearing more chatter that the Thunder is still on track for Verizon and expected to become available during Q3 of this year. Other features are rumored to feature the SIM card slot and a microSD card slot under the battery, and that it will offer support for CDMA 1x, EV-DO, GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSPA.

This new phone is really exciting for Verizon customers (who haven’t had the best selection of smart phones in recent years). However, although the device will probably be a workhorse – and productivity-focused - what about other features? One of the most compelling reasons for individuals to buy the iPhone is that it also functions as an iPod and allows consumers to purchase songs, media, and programs with simplicity with the iTunes application. In order for the Blackberry Thunder to be success, it must be “multi-talented” and made for an array of users at an affordable price. Without these components, it’ll be too narrowly focused on a specific populace of users and as a result, sales with suffer. Regardless, as a Verizon customer myself, I’m elated to hear of this development and hope that the device combines the traditional business tool with innovative media features and functional touch screen at an affordable price,
