Considering that we all must do our part for Mother Earth, inventor Jonathan Fenton has done his part with the Biopod design.
The Biopod is designed to be an airtight kitchen top storage container which can be used to store organic waste. It then uses vacuum ionization in order to slow down decomposing waste in a hygienic and bacteria-free process.
There is an LED button that will change color to indicate the decomposing status. I believe that a green light indicates the presence of safe methane levels.
It appears that the Biopod is powered by a simple 9 volt battery. While we’re on the subject of power, I have heard that decomposing products give off a small amount of heat. What if we could somehow harness that heat into temperature?
Perhaps that will be a feature when this hits the market, which doesn’t look to be anytime soon. It would definitely be something that restaurants could use to get rid of their excess food garbage in an environmentally conscious manner.
