Best Buy’s Insignia MP3 players
Did you just realize that you left someone off of your holiday shopping list and now need to scramble to get him a gift? If you aren’t too close with him and he has yet to know a thing or two about gadgets, technology and pop-culture, you may want to consider picking up one of the Insignia MP3 players.
Best Buy’s private label brand, Insignia, offers two models: the Sport 2GB (NS-DA2G) and the Sport 1GB (NS-DA1G). Both models are 0.5” thin, weight 1.2 ounces, have a 1.2” OLED screen, built-in FM tuner, USB 2.0, have a rechargeable battery with 18 hours of playback time, and are PC and Mac compatible. They also both support MP3, WMA, WMA-DRM, PlaysForSure , Napster and Rhapsody subscription services and JPEG image files. The 2GB model also adds audible support.
I had a chance to play with both models (which are essentially identical) and was left rather impressed with the functionality and ease of use as compared to name brand players (check out the interface here). The 2GB price is right, the size is good, and they are easy to use for you non-tech folk. I suggest heading over to Best Buy to pick one up if you are currently in the market, or forgot to get someone a present.
You can get 1 GB for $79.99 or 2 GB for $99.99, not too bad if you don’t feel pressured to buy a iPod name brand.

OK IT SEEMS LIKE ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVINGG PROBLEMS WITH DELETING ONLY ONE SONG AND NOT ALL OF THEM. THE FIRST THING YOU HAVE TO DO ISGO TO YOUR MP3’S SETTINGS THEN TO THE USB MODE. CHANGE IT FROM FILE AND FOLDER TO MEDIA CHANGER. THEN PLUG IN YOUR NS-DA AND RIGHT CLICK ON THE START BOTTON AT THE BOTTOM LEFT OF YOUR SCREEN “START”. CLICK EXPLORE AND FIND YOUR INSIGNIA MUSIC PLAYER FILE. DOUBLE CLICK ON IT THEN DOUBLE CLICK MEDIA FILE THEN THE SONG/ARTIST YOU WANT TO DELETE. AND JUST RIGHT CLICK ON IT AND DELETE IT

on July 21, 2008 at 12:36 PM - LINKThe Insignia Sport is a good, economical choice. It is reliable, HOWEVER, my first time with this product went well until 7 months after, when it froze and ceased to work. I was unable to remove the cover (I was afraid I couldn’t exchange if it was broken), and ALL my songs were gone, because it couldn’t sync to a computer.
on September 17, 2008 at 11:51 PM - LINKThere is a little pin hole on the bottom edge of the insignia, if you push it it will reset everything without deleting music.
on September 19, 2008 at 08:41 PM - LINKI got an insignia for my bday some time in may. A few months ago my screens color is all funky. I can hear music i just can’t see anything. For the first week when my problem first occured it would in and out. Like one moment i could see the name of the song i was listening to and the artist and stuuf. Then the next the screen would go back to the way it was. I thought i might have been something i did like maybe i had too many songs, but it’s 8GB so that couldn’t be the problem. Now i can tell that it’s a produt problem.
