Avis and AT&T team to bring you CruiseCast

AT&T CruiseCastOkay, you’re driving a rented car around a city you probably don’t know.  Unless you have a GPS, you’re trying to figure out how to get where you want to in an unfamiliar environment.  What’s missing to add to your anxiety?  It has to be Spongebob Squarepants’ laugh, of course.

Avis Budget Group is using AT&T’s new CruiseCast to offer satellite TV and radio to car renters.  The service will cost $8.95 per day and $62.65 per week.  But, is the price really worth it?  Avis hopes the service will please road warriors and parents with children.  The children might get their fix of whatever is offered on the TV, or maybe you could listen to the news or stock market news on it without being able to see the screen.

The service provides 22 channels of TV and 20 satellite radio stations.  The only specifics include a short list of the included TV channels: Disney Channel, Disney XD, Discovery Kids, Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network Mobile, USA, Comedy Central, MSNBC, CNN Mobile Live and CNBC.  Just about everything your kids or backseat businessman might want.
