AT&T opens up more, now offering a SIM-only service

by Robert Nelson on Jan 21, 2008 at 10:57 AM

AT&T SIM-only Option

In an effort to become what seems the “most open” network, AT&T has begun to advertise and offer a SIM-only service. With the new service customers will be able to bring over their other mobile service branded phone or use another AT&T branded handset and just purchase the SIM card along with a month service plan.

Similar to getting a new handset the SIM-only option will require a 2-year agreement, which is a little disappointing and would make me wonder why most people would not just opt for a new phone also. Unless of course you are a little pickier and want that handset that AT&T still does not offer. The SIM will cost you just $5.00 after an online discount of $5.00, which makes you wonder why they would have not just priced it at $5.00 to begin with.
