Palm Pre Information & Updates
Palm just introduced their next-gen smartphone, the Palm Pre, and next-gen operating system, Palm webOS. Gadgetell's got the latest Pre and webOS information and news for you right here.

The Archos 605 is one of the best PMP’s Archos has to offer, and already comes with a unique feature, integrated Wi-Fi. After today, it will come with another nice, somewhat unique feature - GPS. Usually, we see GPS units coming with audio and video capabilities, not usually do we see an already established PMP that gets GPS later on. Before GPS being added as an option on the 605, it was already battling the iPod and other PMP’s, but now that it has GPS, it’s starting to look better and better.
Archos added on a SiRF III GPS chip, so when this PMP is docked in a special car dock, it can deliver maps. You even have the option of getting free or paid traffic updates, and it comes with a free one year subscription to accident notification services. The neat thing here is that it delivers directions through the line-out jack, meaning that you can listen to music or watch a video without the GPS, but as soon as you take out the headphones, it will switch back to GPS. Now, the American Archos 605 will receive maps of the States as well as China and Europe. Also, GPS will be available in the 605 wherever else it is sold in the world.
The Windows and Mac compatible 30GB Archos 605 will sell with GPS in May for only $400. Now, you might be wondering what happens if you already own a 605, if that is the case, you can buy the GPS component separately for $130. Obviously, if you already own a 605, then it might not be worth it to buy the GPS, but if you are looking for a PMP to buy, and perhaps a GPS, you may want to consider the Archos 605.
