by Robert Nelson on Mar 6, 2008 at 03:15 PM

Apple iPhone iPod Touch SDK Announcement

As part of the iPhone 2.0 software update, Apple also announced Enterprise support for the iPhone (and iPod Touch) which will come in the form of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. The new support will feature push email, push contacts, push calendar and global address list. It will have support for certificates and identities, WPA2/802.1x and enforced security policies with VPN protocols, device configuration and also remote wipe.

The new iPhone 2.0 software will work with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or 2007 and be able to be used with either the EDGE or Wi-Fi connection on the iPhone.

Similar to the SDK, custom apps and the App Store, the Exchange support will not be available until the software update 2.0 hits, which will be sometime “by the end of June.“
