Apple and Starbucks announce partnership at Apple Event

by Natesh Sood on Sep 6, 2007 at 03:22 AM

StarbucksAt the Apple event today there were many fascinating unveiling’s, including the much anticipated iPod Touch.  Another important unveiling at the event was a new music deal, which probably isn’t that exciting to many, but it still is an exciting new service by Apple and Starbucks. This new service is available for the iPod Touch, iPhone, PC, or Mac, as long as you have iTunes on it and are at a Starbucks store.

Upon entering Starbucks, your device will be logged into a wireless WiFi network and there you will be able to search and preview millions of songs including the song playing at Starbucks, and you can buy any of these songs off the WiFi iTunes store. Prices are still the same as they would be on the regular iTunes store.

Steve Jobs says that this is a great service because whenever you are walking into Starbucks, and if you decide you like that song, you are immediately able to purchase and download it.This service is set to debut in the Big Apple and Seattle on October 2nd. Next, 350 Starbucks stores will debut in the San Francisco Bay area on November 7. Additionally, 500 more stores in Los Angeles beginning in early February ‘08, 300 more in Chicago in March ‘08, and more stores throughout America later in ‘08.

This looks to be the beginning of a successful partnership between popular company, Apple, and popular coffee/music shop, Starbucks that fits as well as Nike+Apple.
