Alltel sells for $27.5 billion

Alltel LogoThe Wall Street Journal is reporting that Alltel has been sold for $27.5 billion. However its not one of the other large cell phone companies that made this purchase, TPG Capital LLP and the private-equity arm of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. made the purchase making this the largest private-equity sale for a wireless company.
