Alltel offering three months free service for adding new lines

by Robert Nelson on Jul 14, 2009 at 06:17 AM

Alltel offering three months free service for adding new linesAlltel must believe in never starting too early, because they have just launched a new Back to School Promotion.  The offer will be available beginning today and runs through September 10.  What does it offer?  Up to three months of service for free.

The promotion is available to both new and existing customers who add a new line to either a “My Circle” plan, Smart Choice Pack, or a Bundled Wireless Internet plan.  Basically, Alltel is giving anyone who adds a new line (up to 4) to their primary account, three months of calling for free.  Sounds like a perfect option to make sure their kids will have a phone when they go off to school, but, at the same time, make them happy because they will have a phone during the summer months.

Of course, when you sign up, you will be required to pay a $25 activation free for each line.  Additionally, customers adding new lines to their account under this promotion will only have to sign a 1-year agreement as opposed to the standard 2-year.  Finally, you may want to check with Alltel as to whether this will actually be available in your area, because according to the press release:

“The Back to School promotion and 1-year contract option is available only to customers in the 91 cellular market areas (CMAs) that Verizon Wireless is required to divest, which will continue to operate as Alltel Wireless until the sale agreements with AT&T and Atlantic Tele-Network are approved by the Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission.”
