Acer, E-Ten team up to deliver smartphones by year’s end

by David Gonzales on Apr 25, 2008 at 01:12 AM

Acer and E-Ten

Acer’s acquisition of Asian smartphone maker E-Ten has put them in a position to start manufacturing their own smartphones very soon. And they will, as confirmed by Acer President Gianfranco Lanci, saying that their company will release its first Windows Mobile powered smartphone by the end of this year or early next year. They’ll be focusing entirely on smartphones now, though, shifting away from E-Ten’s tradition of making PDA’s. And if E-Ten’s previous products are any indication of what this team up will be able to produce in the future, then we’re all in for a lot of suspense. iPhone killer, anyone?

Acer and Eten known to produce shiny spec - look good on paper, hardware failure comes later company, known to reject RMA with no support. Two negatives do not made a positive. If you find their products still functioning, angels looking after you (keep praying). Their products manufactured in China rush assembly line without any quality testing and rejected components, customer are force to be their tester, which exhaust within a year by return and repair. After one year, you are on your own. Good business model huh?
