Access voice chat through Facebook with Vivox
Voice chat is going to be available through Facebook in the upcoming weeks provided by the company Vivox. Vivox already provides online voice services to other sites like Second Life and will now add Facebook functionality. Vivox claims it will give users the chance to have high quality voice conversations with their Facebook friends either on a one on one basis or host group conversations. People that are not on Facebook will also be able to use the service and communicate with members by calling in through a toll free number.
Developers are also going to have the ability to use the voice chat service and can add audio to their Facebook applications. It can also benefit users that wish to play games simultaneously with other Facebook members. Vivox has proven with their past projects that they have the ability to support thousands of users simultaneously on a single channel.
The service has been in a closed beta and is expected to launch as soon as a few weeks. To get the service when it comes available, you’ll need to download a plug-in.
