1 Million iPhones down, 9 Million to go
Apple achieved it’s 1 millionth iPhone sold mark yesterday in what has to be good to fair news for the company. A million phones at even the lower 4GB price is still about $400 million in sales to a max of $700 million. Not to shabby.
That is 13,500+ iPhones sold each day. 1 million phones in 74 days. Wha? Wow.
But Apple is still 9 million phones short of reaching its goal of 10 million units sold by the end of 2008. The new lower price will help, but how much? And how much of those sales will eat into iPod sales over the holiday. No more are we buying a phone and a MP3 player but just one item for about the same price.
Nevertheless, Jobs is quoted on the Apple site as ““We can’t wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday season.” I am sure he can’t.
