The T-Mobile Dance takes over Liverpool station in London
While T-Mobile may not be known for the best advertising campaigns, their new Life’s for sharing campaign is sure a fun one to watch. The concept is very similar to Improv Everywhere’s Frozen Grand Central video, which gave us a good laugh when it came out a while back. Our friends over a GeekSugar said it best: “It’s rare when commercials make you feel good, and even rarer when they can make technology seem like a community enhancer rather than a discourager.” Check out the video below and let us know what you think.

Review: Zagg’s Z.buds for iPhone
The company behind invisibleSHIELDs recently introduced the Z.buds for the iPhone, and showed them off at CES. We finally got a chance to listen to them and like what we hear. The new earbuds have a tangle-free cord that comes in red or black, has an inline volume control, and has an inline microphone for talking on the phone as well. The cord is made to be worn around your neck so they don’t get ripped out of your ears like normal earbuds do every once in a while. Apparently the Z.buds are very similar to a product Rivet used to carry, but we’re glad to see Zagg decided to add them to their ZAGGaudio line-up.
The Palm Pre has a removable battery

Palm introduced their next generation smartphone, the Palm Pre and its mobile operating system webOS, last week at the Consumer Electronics Show. One of the things we glossed over in our coverage is the fact that the Palm Pre has a removable, user-replaceable battery. As you can see in the picture above, taken from a slide at Palm’s press conference, the entire back of the phone comes off to expose the battery. Now if this is a well-engineered device, you shouldn’t need to replace your battery for quite some time, but it’s definitely a plus that the company decided to let you replace it in the first place.
Does anybody else feel like Palm purposely did everything Apple refuses to do? Copy and Paste, removable battery, multiple apps open at once, etc…
RelatedHow To: Sync Google Calendar with your iPhone over the air
The iPhone has been out for about two years now, and it’s still a pain in the ass to sync your iPhone with your Google Calendar. Luckily, NuevaSync’s Beta service makes this process a breeze.
NuevaSync is a free service that transmits the Google Calendar of your choosing over the Microsoft Exchange protocol so your iPhone or iPod touch can treat it as an Exchange calendar. The process of setting it up is quite simple. We’ll walk you through the process of setting it up.
Steve Jobs goes on medical leave, Apple fans cry
So by now you’ve probably heard - Steve Jobs is taking a medical leave, and plans to return in June. According to the memo that was just released, Steve does not focus on the fact that he has medical problems, but rather the fact that his health issues are a distraction to him and everyone around him. Additionally, he states that his health issues are more “complex” than he originally thought… and lets be honest, he doesn’t look too well in the picture above taken in 2009 by Reuters. At this time, shares have fallen nearly 7-8%, and we can likely expect APPL to drop more when the market re-opens tomorrow morning.

Dear Ed,
Well, looks like you pulled it off at CES with the announcement of the Palm Pre and webOS. But let’s not count it as a victory quite yet. You’ve got a lot more work to do to make this happen. The Pre and webOS look fantastic, but looks aren’t everything. Let’s review the most important things for you and your team to focus on leading up to the launch of the Pre.
Microsoft leads $24 million investment round in multitouch outfit N-trig
As we saw at CES this past week, Microsoft is ready to look past Vista and move onto their new Windows 7 operating system, which features full multi-touch support. To further push for the advancement of multi-touch technologies and speed up the adoption of the technology in the PC market, the company has just led the latest round in financing multi-touch panel and sensor company N-trig, an Israeli start-up. Other investors in this round include Aurum Ventures, Challenger Ltd., Canaan Partners, and Evergreen Venture Partners.
Thanks for tuning into Gadgetell’s coverage of CES!

The Consumer Electronics Show is the highlight of our year. We get to fondle all of the shiny new toys that most people won’t be seeing for months, sometimes even years. Unfortunately the Gadgetell team has departed Las Vegas, and our live coverage of the show floor has come to an end. Over the next couple of weeks, along with the daily news and product launches, we will be brining you analysis and thoughts on some of the new products released in Vegas, and giving away some of the products and schwag we filled our bags with at the end of the show.
Here’s a few things that were announce at the show you may want to hear more about:
- Palm Pre, webOS - Meet the Palm Pre, your new best friend?
- Palm TouchStone - Meet the new Palm TouchStone
- LG Watch Phone - Up close and personal with the LG Watch Phone
- Beats Tour by Dr. Dre - Monster announces Beats Tour by Dr. Dre
- Steve Ballmer’s Keynote - CES 2009 Keynote: Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO
Now is the time for you to speak up…
Is there anything we or someone else covered at CES you’ve been dying to hear more about? If so, leave a comment below and we’ll respond with our thoughts.
Looking forward to a great 2009.
RelatedIntel brings cheesy DJs to CES, overshadows elegant image
Companies like Intel have a lot to be proud of, but don’t much to show at tradeshows like the Consumer Electronics Show this past week. This stems from the fact that they are primarily a B2B vendor that ships its products to be included in other companies products. So what do companies like them show? Well, a little bit of everything. At CES, Intel showed off product categories ranging from netbooks, to mobile devices, to minority report-like touch screen displays, which all feature their chips or technology.
So how do you get people into your booth when you’re just showing off things that other companies are showing at their booths? Club Core is the answer. Intel featured a bunch of cheesy DJs standing in a DJ booth grooving to beats while randomly shouting out uses for and specs of their products.
While it was mildly entertaining, it was very strange seeing a company with such an elegant public image attempt to jazz things up with a little hip hop.
Suggestion: Intel… stick with elegance next year. You are an amazing company, so let the insane number of products that contain your chips and futuristic technologies you’ve developed speak for themselves. A little fun isn’t going to hurt anyone, but a lot of corniness makes you look silly. So next year, leave the hip hop at home.
RelatedCES Highlight: Humorous band Tripod steals the show from Ballmer
If you’re not familiar with how trade show keynotes work, the headline speaker takes the stage, talks about their company’s direction, and then introduces a slew of presenters and product managers to show off their latest and greatest.
At this year’s Steve Ballmer keynote, not much exciting was announced beyond a demo of Windows 7, announcement of Halo Wars and Halo 3 ODST, and of course the entrance of gameshows like 1 vs. 100 into Xbox Primetime. How did the company fill the void in the keynote? Entertaining band Tripod took the stage during, and after the show, and had the audience cracking up…that’s how.
