PowerGlove Put to Good Use

by XXChris Mattera on Apr 22, 2006 at 01:40 PM

Ah, remember the PowerGlove? It was a great idea that didn’t work too well for Nintendo. Austin Weber has performed a very nice modification of the vintage device that interfaces the glove with his computer as a mouse. Austin shows off the glove brilliantly playing Unreal Tournament 2004.

The video and instructions on how you can perform the modification yourself are available at Zerosign.net.

“He mapped the in game controls so that his thumb controls forward motion, his pointer finger controls the trigger and his arm motion controls the camera view.”

Could this be a peek at what the future of gaming will be like with the Revolution controller? Or will the new controller flop like its early predecessor?

In either case, if you play UT2k4, watch out for Austin Weber because he just might pwn you with this thing.

Be the First to Play Nintendo Revolution

by XXChris Mattera on Apr 22, 2006 at 12:32 AM

Nintendo’s First-to-Play Sweepstakes has officially launched. You can be one of three finalists who will enjoy a special seat at Nintendo’s media briefing in Hollywood. The winner will be selected at random from the bunch while the others watch in bitter-sweet agony as he or she becomes the first to play Nintendo Revolution.

“No consumer has ever played this new Nintendo system before,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “But more importantly, no one has ever interacted with video games in this way before. Our next home console will revolutionize how people play and experience video games.”

Oh yeah, besides being 18 or older there is also this little condition about having to play on stage in front of the thousands at the briefing awaiting a gaming revolution. Just thought I would give you a heads up.

So hurry up and enter! Don’t tell anyone else about this either. That way I have a better chance at winning!

Wait. Aww man.

Chair in actionEver get that eerie feeling that the furniture in your room is alive and moving around? No? I am really the only one? Well you will after watching this Dynamic Art project.

Max Dean, Raffaello D’Andrea and Matt Donovan have created a chair that breaks apart and then reassembles itself. Though not much information can be gathered from the video as to whether the chair is being controlled by remote or using artificial intelligence to get back together, it’s still cool.
