The Valentine’s Day E-card: Trojan horse of the modern age

Valentines day E-Cards can prove to be trojan infestedSoftware provider Computer Associates has issued an early warning to computer users the world over to be wary when opening E-cards this Valentine’s season.  The Win32/Waledac trojan is enjoying new life as a nasty download that will be soon spamming its way into your inbox, disguised as a Valentine’s Day themed card.

The trojan, once downloaded, sets up shop gathering and sharing your personal data with external information collecting servers.  Once infected, your machine also may be used by foreign entities as a spam bot, and can even be used to spread the infected email to other computers.  According to CA, the files to keep an eye out for are love.exe; onlyyou.exe; you.exe; youandme.exe; and meandyou.exe, but they do note that new files could be added to the mix at any time.

Klipsch hopes to cash in on DTV crowds

New Klipsch home audio surround sound systems aimed at DTV upgradersBanking on hopes that many consumers will use the now delayed digital transition as an opportunity to make the jump to HDTVs, Klipsch hopes to offer audio accompaniment at reasonable prices. 

The only problem with Klipsch’s plan is that, of the three home audio systems it announced today, only one is south of the $500 mark.  It is also interesting to note, that while Klipsch is seeking the the DTV set, they only expect their more modestly priced audio systems, the HD Theater 500 for $599.99 and the HD Theater 300 for $399.99, to be available for sale in March for the former and April for the latter.

Struggle for 4G mobile dominance begins in UK

Motorola LogoMotorola has begun to test its LTE (Long Term Evolution) wireless network in the United Kingdom in hopes of eventually establish its LTE technology as the de facto standard 4G for Europe.  Currently most European mobile operators utilize the 3G, or HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) standard, to provide mobile data for their users.
