by Arnold Zafra on Jun 28, 2008 at 03:32 PM

Brother MFC-6490W

Brother has introduced its newest inkjet multifunction printer, the MFC-6490W. Although it may seem just your usual high-end all-around printer, for Brother this printer is the first in their product line which can print, copy, scan, and fax on an 11-inch by 17-inch sized paper, which is the same size a fully spread tabloid newspaper.

Features of the MFC-6490W include USB ports for connecting USB flash drives that allow for direct printing, PictBridge compatible ports, external multimedia cards, built-in auto-document feeder, dual paper input trays, four ink cartridges, a 3.3-inch color LCD which also serves as a control center for the printer. For its color printing speed, the MFC-6490W gives out up to 35/28 ppm (Mono: 450x300dpi, Color: 600x150 dpi).

This printer will be available sometime next month and it will retail for $299.

by Arnold Zafra on Jun 10, 2008 at 11:32 AM

Epson NX400 All-In-One Printer

Epson has recently launched a new line of all-in-one printers that is geared for household printing needs, and to kickstart this new printer series, Epson has also launched its flagship model, the affordable NX400 all-in-one printer. And when we say affordable, we mean dirt cheap with a retail price of $99.99.

But don’t worry, despite its cheap price, the NX400’s features don’t seem to be cheap at all. The NX400 is a full-featured printer that utilizes Epson’s DURAbrite Ultra ink for a smudge-free print. In terms of performance, the NX400 delivers as well with 34ppm for black and color text printing. You can also have a 4 x 6-inch borderless photo printed in just 26 second. In addition to this, the printer also integrates a one-touch standalone copying feature for photos and documents, as well as an option to reduce and enlarge black and white or color copies from 25 to 400 percent.

Polaroid ZINK printer officially announced, priced

by Mark Pascua on May 31, 2008 at 10:40 AM

Polaroid PoGo

Polaroid has given their ZINK printer a price tag and release date - July 6th at Best Buy and July 20th through Target—both selling it for $149. The pocket-sized product will be marketed as the Poloraid PoGo, which is short for Polaroid-on-the-go. The Polaroid PoGo supports full color printing through cell phones and digital cameras via Bluetooth or USB (PictBridge compatible). The PoGo weighs a measly eight ounces, but don’t let the size fool you. It can print 2x3-inch borderless photos in less than 60 seconds. It’s a shame that Polaroid has quit the instant film market, but if you miss those old school Polaroid cameras, this is as close as you’ll get to sharing your photos instantly.

Canon’s new PIXMA iP100 promises to print photos in a flash

by Arnold Zafra on Apr 24, 2008 at 06:43 PM

Canon Pixma iP100

Canon has not been that active with its printer product line lately. Either users find that Canon’s printers got nothing much to offer, or they just don’t find the need for photo printers anymore. Anyway, Canon takes on the photo printer market anew with the release of its latest PIXMA iP100 photo printer.

Priced at $249, the Canon PIXMA iP100 is a compact mobile printer that lets users print borderless color photos from practically anywhere that they want to. The iP100’s patented print head technology and 5-color ink system allows for the creation of photos up to 9600 x 2400 color dpi resolution. This printer also promises fast printing speed that it is said to be capable of printing a 4 x 6-inch photo in color lab quality in just 50 seconds.

Other notable features of the iP100 are; auto-image fix, irDa compatibility, optional BU-30 Bluetooth interface, and standard PictBridge interface. The iP100 is also equipped with Inkjet Nozzle Engineering printheads with 1,856 precision nozzles. In other words, the printer should be capable of producing great quality photo prints.

If you’re on the look out for a nifty photo inkjet printer, you may want to check the iP100, but if you are like me who is so used to viewing my photos in digital format instead of the printed ones, you may want to pass off on this one.

Polaroid Instant Printing with the ZINK Printer

This pocket sized printer will still offer instant gratification, just with some better image quality. The ZINK features both USB and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity that is said to be able to print your pics in as little as 60 seconds.

Gadgetell Review: Epson RX595 printer

by Indraneel Purohit on Mar 9, 2008 at 06:23 PM

epson rx595

Epson’s RX 595 all in one printer has it all. It prints, it scans, and can even read memory cards and print directly to CDs.

After opening the box, I quickly set up the printer and scrounged around for a USB A male to USB B male cable (which, unfortunately, was not included with the printer) and popped in the software CD. I was a bit disappointed that my MacBook could not automatically detect and use the printer, but installing the software was for the best. Though this is probably not a universal problem, the unit I received had a problem during its initial setup with paper jams. However, after a few aggravating minutes, the jams stopped and printing was smooth as could be.

HP ships LaserJet P1005, smallest laser printer

by Natesh Sood on Feb 1, 2008 at 09:54 PM

LaserJet P1005

In case you’re one of those people who likes everything small and efficient, you might want to consider checking out this new HP laser printer. HP touts that this is the smallest ever, and it was announced this past summer, but starts shipping now.

The LaserJet P1005 takes up the same area as a 15.4-inch notebook, so I would imagine it really is as small as HP claims. Additionally, when in PowerSave mode, it can spit out a piece of paper in around 8.5 seconds. Also, it has an average speed of 14 pages per minute, which isn’t too bad considering it’s size. Furthermore, it looks like HP has some special ink “formed from perfectly spherical particles”, which they claim to have better quality than other inks. It is available on Amazon right now for $145.
