If you already read Gadgetell everyday, why not just subscribe to our RSS feed?
According to Wikipedia, “RSS is a simple XML-based system that allows users to subscribe to their favorite websites.” But really, that’s even making it sound a whole lot more techie than it actually is. RSS is a way to allow you to receive content (news, blogs, audio, video) without actually having to visit each site itself.

Gadgetell rolls into 2008 with a refreshed look
If you are reading this I expect that you have noticed the new look, here at Gadgetell. We have been working hard the past three months to roll out this new design right in time for 2008. Though we continue to face server issues, the design and some backend work are both helping to resolve the problem.
As part of the new look you will notice that we switched from a deep red/maroon shade to solid red. We also upgraded the background on the header from silver to gold. The browser/categories have been reworked a bit a as well and we will continue to optimize the listing across the top. Don’t think we forgot about the other categories, they can be accessed via the “More>>“ link on the navigation bar.
New additions include a “Featured Content” area as well as “Gadgetell Originals” in the second and third columns of the page. These will be two spots where you will find content that is 100% exclusive to Gadgetell, whether it be product reviews, unboxings/peep shows, interviews, podcasts, or analysis. Expect these to start populating as we move into CES mode.

Open Web Awards: Nominations for widgets and applications
Gadgetell is proud to be apart of the first annual Open Web Awards. Read the post below (from the host, Mashable) to learn what they are all about and how to nominate your favorite widget/application.
Late last year, Newsweek predicted that 2007 would be the year of the widget. Boy, were they right! Aside from the usual buzz that surrounds the likes of Google, Facebook, and MySpace, this year was dominated by stories of companies coming out of nowhere with distributed applications to become household (well, at least Web 2.0 household) names. In fact, even USA Today has caught on to the trend, highlighting the rise of companies like iLike, Slide, and RockYou in today’s edition.
While flash widgets for things like slideshows and scrapbooks were the big success story in the first half of the year, much of the focus in the space shifted to Facebook applications this summer, with developers building tools ranging from the trivial to attempts to turn the social network into a serious business tool. Then, just last month Google threw its hat in the ring with the announcement of OpenSocial, an effort to align virtually all of the other major social networks against Facebook in application development.
With that, we open up the category for nominations. To nominate a specific widget or application, leave a comment with the word “NOMINATE” in it. Nominations will remain open until 11:59pm PST on December 4th (next Tuesday). At that point, we will tally up the nominations and enter the second stage of the competition – voting.
Wait no longer, let’s get the nominations rolling…
