Belkin’s Easy Transfer Cable for Vista
Here’s another way to transfer files easily from a PC to another. The Belkin Easy Transfer Cable let’s you transfer file from your old PC/ Laptop running on Windows XP to your new computer that currently runs on Vista. What you need to do is install the software (included in the package) to your XP computer, then connect each end of the cable to the USB port on both computers. The easy transfer wizard will automatically appear and lets you select items to copy.
Spec wise, it can transfer 30GB of data in just an hour, which is approximately 7,500 songs to your new PC, provided its on USB 2.0 and not the older 1.1 version.

Samsung starts mass production of 16GB flash memory
Apple fans all over the globe are panting uncontrollably after Samsung’s latest announcement. Samsung will be the first to mass produce 16Gb NAND flash memory. The tech specs from Samsung state the memory support 30MB/s transfer rates and 4-bit error correcting code.
Like most of you, I’m not really thinking about the ram tech specs. I’m thinking about 16Gb iPod nanos and iPhones. I’d like to thank Apple for instilling me with this hope. But is it me, or does it seem everyone is going flash memory crazy lately?

Rumor: Gmail’s upcoming new features
A translator working on Google’s Gmail program is offering up the new features coming that he has seen/worked on. They are:
- My Friends Are Bored - The translator hints that it would be a rouse to get you to IM friends using Gmails Chat functionality.
- “Presently” integration. A surprise to no one now, I even reported it a while ago, the slideshow app addition to the Google family will become prominent in placement, along side docs and spreadsheets.
- Multi-User conversations in Chat. IM with a mass of folks (most likely so my wife can keep reigns on my social life...)
- AIM Integration. Seems Time-Warner and Google are ready to put their brains where they money has already gone. Now Chat users and AOL users can party. It’s only been 17 months, but who is counting.
Interestingly, there is no mention of video conferencing capabilities as reported here by Adam.

Apple expands DRM-free downloads
We all know that Apple is selling DRM-free music from EMI on the iTunes Store. Well Apple sent out a small note to all it’s music partners offering them the same treatment as EMI, asking if they would like to sell their music and videos DRM-free. If the deal bares any similarity to the EMI one, we can expect to pay a little more for that DRM-free goodness.
I would just like to give props to Apple for reaching out and doing this, I know I don’t mind paying a little more to know that my music is DRM-free. Now all iTunes needs to work on is better quality downloads and we’ll be set.

The Tornado PC File transfer Device
It is so time consuming and a pain to transfer large files from one PC / laptop to another unless you have them both connected via switches or routers. Normal home users have to go through multiple rounds of saving and loading on thumbdrives or external hard disks just to get them done. The Tornado is a great file transfer tool that will take away the hassle if you plonked down $59.95.
Functionally, it is easy to use as it doesn’t require you to install any software. Just connect two ends of this USB 2.0 device to your source and destination computers and you just drag and drop anything you want to transfer. The Tornado also transfers file with speeds up to 600% faster than any flash memory-based media, and it features retractable cables.

Apple TV now streams with SlingPlayer for Mac
SlingMedia announced today that SlingPlayer for Mac is now official. As of today it is out of beta and being released for download as Version 1.0. While SlingPlayer for Mac has been in both private and public beta for a while, I think this release is well worth the wait.
Slingbox owners can stream cable TV, DVR and DVD content from their home directly to their Mac, but this will also give you access to your AppleTV, FrontRow or even an iPod docked in either an Apple Universal Dock or the iPod Hi-Fi. With a wide variety of options this gives you quite a bit of reasons to use the SlingPlayer with your Mac.
SlingPlayer for Mac will run on a PowerPC or an Intel Mac running OSX 10.3.9 or later and is currently available for download here.

Nintendo to increase production to meet Wii demand
Nintendo’s president has recently acknowledged that they didn’t accurately predict the shear size of the Wii launch and the demand for a unit. Well they’ve decided to do something about it by knocking up production next month to meet the demand. No solid numbers were given, we were just basically told that there will be more. This is news to many peoples ears, including mine, as I tried to grab a Wii and went to Best Buy only to find out that they are all gone.
I guess this proves the Wii is the winner, or at least in a close tie with the 360, in this next gen console battle. I’m looking forward to some Wii Sports action—I rock at tennis. Any challengers?

Sony Ericsson gets Ferrari-ized
I never thought this day would come. Let me just first say that Sony Ericsson makes excellent phones that are very sturdy, bug-free, and have surprisingly good cameras. It seems their credibility has just gone out the window with the release of the Ferrari phone. Many other companies have jumped on the bandwagon before with Ferrari branded items including Acer and Lacie. Some may enjoy the idea of having a Ferrari branded phone or laptop but personally I can’t get over the raised pricing for a branded computer, or phone in this case.
The official name for the phone is the K800i Ferrari limited edition. I love Sony Ericsson phones, but all I’m going to say to SE is, “red is not your color.”

Monstrous New York Apple Store in the works
As if New York didn’t already have enough beautiful Apple Stores, Apple is now adding another store to the city. The new store will also be the biggest Apple store in the world coming in at 32,000 square feet to work with (just over 50,000 in total) spread over 3 floors—the current largest, being the London store, comes in at 28,000 square feet.
To add insult to injury for us non-New Yorkers, the store will be the size of a city block. Does Apple even have enough iPods and Macs to fill the store? The store will also be one of Apple’s most expensive endeavors coming in at $400 per square foot for the space, compared to Apple’s SoHo store which is around $95 per square foot.

First pics from iPhone?
A story has just popped up on the web claiming to have pictures taken with the Apple iPhone. The pictures were spotted on Flickr and the EXIF data clearly states they were taken with an iPhone, although this can be spoofed. There is no proof that these were taken with the iPhone but soon after this story broke the pictures were made private, then soon after deleted.
The images don’t look all that bad, but they don’t look amazing either, but what do you expect from 2 megapixels? If this does turn out to be true the person with access to the phone will definitely be in some trouble, I mean one of the pictures must be of them self or a close friend/family member. Not the smartest way to leak info.
