techguyThere’s only a few days left and you still haven’t bought a gift for that tech geek in your life. What do you do? Look at this handy guide to the best Geek gifts of the year that’s what.  Here are the top 7 gifts, as organized by ExtremeTech, to get to this year for the geek that has everything.

1. Sony Blu-ray player: You can get one for as cheap as $250 now!  And yes it’s still a good player. The Sony BDP-350 is available for only $224 on Amazon.com, It’s a BD-Profile 2.0 which means it a newer model, and it has great DVD up conversion.

graphic chip2. MSI R4850 T2D512 Graphics Card: Cost is about $190, and is fast performing while keeping your system from over-heating. It’s double-wide cooler keeps your comp running quiet and cool. Only takes up one card slot, unlike other more expensive cards, which will save you room on your system.

3. Dead Space: Every geek likes a good Shooter. Dead Space hits the price tag at about $50-$60, and is an exciting, yet down-right terrifying third person Sci-Fi shooter. When a deep space mining platform loses it’s communication, you and your repair crew are sent out to fix the problem. What’s the problem? Huge terrifying space bugs are taking over the ship! You have to figure out why these creatures are taking over the ship and what happened to the crew. Works best on high-performing PC’s.

4. Palmsize Havoc Helicopter: Who doesn’t want an awesome helicopter that fits in your palm and only cost $29.99?  I have no idea. This high-flying heli weighs virtually nothing and comes fully assembled in the box. In only fifteen minutes you are ready to fly this bad boy all over your home or office. Just watch out for ceiling fans.

5. Zenith DTT901 Digital TV Tuner Converter Box: Let’s face it, even geeks can’t afford to have a cable box on all 12 TV’s in their house. This digital converter box is only about $20 after the $40 rebate issued by cable companies. It’s sleek and attractive, with easy set up and offers plenty of stations. Plus it comes with a universal remote!

drum shirt6. Fallout 3: A must have for any computer gamer. Fallout 3 will hit your wallet hard with it’s $50-$80 price tag (because of the collectors edition) but it is definitely money well spent. When your father disappears under mysterious circumstances (is there any other kind?), you are forced to escape the fallout shelter your in and make it to DC to find him.  Fallout is a post-apocalyptic first-person RPG, by the makers of Oblivion. Great for computer gamers but also available on Xbox 360.

7. Electronic Drum Kit Shirt: Yes, even clothes can be an awesome gift. Available for $29.99 on ThinkGeek.com, this 100% cotton shirt actually plays drum beats. In fact, it plays seven different beats. Each drum part plays a different sound, you can have a jam session on your torso! The shirt requires four AAA batteries that are held in a pouch on the side of your shirt, you can even adjust the volume. Now if only it came with little drum sticks…
These gift ideas should fulfill the wants of that special tech geek in you life, and also fulfill most stockings (like what I did there?).
