The wild and wacky collection of characters in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars has added the power of the press. Frank West, the photojournalist at the center of the shopping mall zombie outbreak in Capcom’s Dead Rising, is throwing his Servbot hat into the ring.
Frank showed off his combat skills busting up the zombies of the Willamette Mall, so we know he can handle himself with baseball bats, shopping carts and whatever else is at hand. He joins a Capcom roster including Street Fighter faves Chun Li and Ryu, Viewtiful Joe, who starred in his own self-titled game, and Batsu from fighter Rival Schools. Revealed so far from the Tatsunoko stable of anime characters are luminaries including Ken The Eagle and Tekkaman, the space knight who battles “for the very future of Earth itself.”
Nintendo fans get serious bragging rights as this fighting free-for-all is Wii exclusive. Gameplay mechanics include throws, dashes and air dashes and of course, tagging in other characters. The deeper parts of the combo system will be instantly familiar to fans of the Marvel vs. Capcom series. The infamous snapback technique to make your opponent switch characters against his will appears in the game, but now the techniques are character specific. It sounds as if there’s going to be a fun, frantic fighting experience on hand here. No release date has been announced yet.
