Sexpert Samantha Brett will never bed a gamer

by PJ Hruschak on Sep 4, 2007 at 08:19 AM

Gamertell ask Sam Sexpert Gamer hater A recent online article by Aussie sex columnist Samantha Brett  concerning relationship deal breakers includes anyone who plays videogames. In her article she points out activities including porn, golf, being a nasty drunk, soliciting hookers and, of course, hardcore addictions to drugs, alcohol and smoking, that can completely cool a person’s libido.

Most of the points in the article are anecdotes from readers and a couple professionals, but the last line was her only bit of personal insight:

That said, what is my absolute deal breaker? An addiction to computer games: Xbox, Nintendo, whatever ... especially at bedtime.

Certainly, too much of anything can ruin a relationship, but she doesn’t even bother to back up or substantiate her personal deal breaker. Is it the simple act of playing a videogame? Did some guy prefer to play Puzzle Quest instead of shopping for shoes?

The experts in the article indicate that addictions are already a relationship and cannot change, but I’ve not known anyone who plays the same game for more than a few months (a few MMOGs may be the exception but even those are intrinsically social and constantly evolving, ie. changing).

It pretty much reads as if this blog era sexpert has zero appreciation for the art of digit manipulations, likening videogamers to crackheads and drunks. She seems to miss the point that she, too, can get into videogames (I bet she’s played a bit of Freecell and Bejewelled) and might be able to lure away another gamer with sexy in-game chat or a bit of real-world cosplay. Nevermind there are even some sexy games out there (and creative uses for the vibration function on some controllers). Instead, she dismisses a pretty large segment of the modern world - male and female - with that single line.

Looks like she’ll never get to experience the alternate use for finger twisting cheat codes. Who knows, maybe her personal orgasmic nirvana could be found with a creative, well-timed application of “Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, right, B, A, B, A, Start.”

She’ll never know.
