PS3 firmware 3.01 lets you play Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune again

by Jenni Lada on Sep 15, 2009 at 01:35 PM

PS3 Today’s a good day for PS3 owners. Sony has kind-of responded to the multiple complaints about PS3 firmware 3.0 with firmware 3.01. The PlayStation.Blog announced the new firmware’s debut today. As usual, what’s been changed hasn’t been really announced. The only change noted is improved system stability for certain games.

Reportedly, the 3.01 fix does alleviate some of the problems caused by firmware 3.0. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune froze on PS3s running 3.0, and quite a few users reported freezing issues with Batman: Arkham Asylum. 3.01 allows users to play both of those games again. Eric Lempel, PlayStation Network Operations Director, specifically stated in a reply on the PlayStation.Blog entry that Uncharted now works.

However, if you’re one of the people who’s controllers just stopped working after 3.0, 3.01 isn’t going to help you any. Joystiq is already reporting that the controllers that stopped working after the PS3 firmware 3.0 update still aren’t working after the 3.01 update. Guess that means it’s time to spend $50 on a new PS3 controller.
