Find hidden objects to solve a murder in Masters of Mystery: Crime of Fashion

Big Blue Bubble Inc, who brought us the wonderfully addictive Home Sweet Home games, has just released its hidden object mystery game Masters of Mystery: Crime of Fashion. If you’re expecting another cute, lighthearted adventure, look elsewhere. Masters of Mystery: Crime of Fashion is a serious, realistic casual scavenger hunt game where you must assist Detective Carrie Chase and find out who’s behind the murder of a fashion designer.
You have to find more than 500 objects throughout the game in realistic environments, while also having to make use of different forensic tools to get a better look at items and clues. There are also mini-games and other brief puzzles thrown in, just to keep things interesting. I was pleased to see that a magnifying glass is among the tools you can use - I hate it when hidden object games with elaborate scenes don’t have some sort of zoom feature to help you out.
There’s a whopping 67.4 MB demo available for download at the BBB Arcade. Unfortunately, if you want to play the demo or full game, you’ll need a Windows PC. Specifically, you’ll need a Windows PC with XP or Vista and DirectX 7.0. People who enjoy the demo and want to experience the full game will also need $19.95.
I was honestly a bit surprised by Masters of Mystery: Crime of Fashion. When I first saw the press release, there were no images and, knowing the art style found in Big Blue Bubble’s previous games, I thought it would be something bright with anime or cartoon style characters and quite a bit of pink. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to see a somewhat realistic and, if the demo is any indication, challenging puzzle game. Now I’m hoping that Masters of Mystery: Crime of Fashion receives a WiiWare port like Home Sweet Home.

on January 6, 2009 at 10:30 PM - LINKI just played the demo. It looked pretty nice though and was pretty fun. Sometimes it can be kind of hard to find the objects, but its supposed to be challenging. :D
Actually, know what’s kinda funny? My mom and I play these too! She just got Mystery Case Files for her DS at Christmas and we’d play the 2 player part. Its really fun!
