Today, October 22, 2009, is a big day for PC owners and fans, as Windows 7 makes its official debut. But it isn’t the only item taking center stage on launch day. The New York launch event also featured an anticipated video game from Rebellion Developments and Sega, Aliens vs. Predator.
The new Aliens vs. Predator trailer that appeared at the Windows 7 event was made part of the ceremonies to help give potential buyers and users and idea of what it is going to be like to play games on Windows 7. In fact, the official press release specifically stated that Alien vs. Predator is being used specifically because its appearance and footage are perfect for showing off Windows 7’s graphical and processing capabilities. Since Aliens vs. Predator uses DirectX 11 and was created with the development team knowing it will most likely be, and look best, running on Windows 7, it was a probably a smart decision to use a trailer from the game at the launch event.
Unfortunately, it is still going to be a while before any of us get to actually play Aliens vs. Predator. The PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game still has a tentative February, 2010 release date in North America, and a general 2010 release window for the rest of the world.
