Swag of the Day: Wooden crate of SqueeBalls

When your friendly neighborhood delivery person (hey Tim) comes to your door with a wooden crate in tow and you didn’t order anything, you know it’s going to be fun.
It’s been a while since I’ve received notable swag from game company - I blame the economy - but this one proved to be especially interesting.
Prying open the nailed down wood lid to the small wooden crate revealed a dozen plush (read: stuffed) SqueeBalls Party creatures.
Rumor Mill: French site claims Wii 2 to feature Blu-ray, available 2010 (updated)
The big rumor of the day is that Nintendo is planning to release the Wii 2 in 2010 and the newer system will include a Blu-ray drive.
The rumor comes courtesy of French language site Logic-Sunrise which cites a “very stable source” (at lest that’s how Yahoo’s BableFish translates it). It also indicates that Nintendo may be waiting to announce the Wii 2 until one month prior to the system’s release.

PS2 turns nine, Sony says system’s “life cycle will continue”
Sony’s PlayStation 2 console may have just turned nine but for fans in the know that may seem to mean there’s only one year left to the system’s life.
So when Sony sent out a press release earlier today touting the PS2’s ninth birthday, I contacted Sony to find out whether or not this is the system’s final year.

No Blu-ray for You 2: Major Nelson refutes Ballmer’s Blu-ray-for-Xbox 360 comment

In response to to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer’s comments concerning the possible future use of Blu-ray drives as accessories on the Xbox 360, Xbox Live’s Director of Programming, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb posted this on his web site:
During an interview yesterday, Steve Ballmer was asked about Blu-Ray and the Xbox 360. I wanted to clear something up. Steve was referring to Blu-Ray accessories for the PC. As we have said in the past, we have no plans to introduce a Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360. In fact…
Balloon Boy, the Flash game. No, really
In case you weren’t already annoyed by the recent media attention spent on Falcon “Balloon Boy” Henne, HeyZap has decided to distribute an online Flash game featuring the l’il faux-lebrity’s likeness and really rub it in.
In the game (embedded below) you use your WASD or arrow keys to move Henne, who floating via a weather balloon, and use the mouse to aim and shoot down oncoming birds, rainbows, helicopters and other objects collect more time and waste taxpayers money. It even has a running total of money earned, uh, wasted by people playing the game, er, Henne’s media attention.
Maybe Blu-ray for You: Microsoft’s Ballmer talks about Blu-ray for the Xbox 360
In an interview with Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Gizmodo pulled out a revealing tidbit concerning the possibility of Blu-ray being playable on the Xbox 360 game system.
Microsoft, which had sided with HD-DVD and then HD digital downloads in the late, great high-def format war of 2008, has basically flipped a corporate assertion that Blu-ray would never be playable on the console.
