Video game deals in the Best Buy pre-Black Friday 2009 sale ad
Guess what? Time for a pre-Black Friday Best Buy sale! In your local Sunday paper today, there should be a pretty impressive Best Buy ad. It is a 12 page circular filled with all sorts of sales and deals. They aren’t as impressive as the Black Friday 2009 sales the store will be offering, but there’s still some pretty good stuff.
If you turn to the second age, you’ll see Best Buy’s main video game promotion during the sale that will last from November 22-25, 2009. There are 33 Wii games and accessories on the second page. They’re all normal price, but if you buy one, you get a $5 Best Buy gift card. If you buy two, you get a $20 gift card.
Here’s a list of the applicable games and accessories for that promotion. Keep in mind, they’re all full price. So unless you’re planning to get two and get the $20 gift card, you’re probably better off waiting until Black Friday…
Teen calls police because his parents took his Xbox
On a typical Sunday, November 15, 2009 afternoon, a teenager in Buffalo Grove, Illinois decided that he wasn’t about to just take his Xbox ban lightly. After a 15 year old boy had been told by his parents that part of his punishment for misbehaving to have his Xbox taken away, he resorted to desperate measures. He called 911.
He didn’t actually stay on the line, but he did call. Police then went to the scene, to make sure that everything was in order. It was then that the teenager pleaded his case to the police, asking if his parents had a legal right to confisgate his property for his wrongdoing.
Of course, the officers told the teenager that his parents were within their rights. They then advised him to listen to is parents and left the scene. No charges were filed against the teenager for his unwarranted call to 911…
Casual Friday: Update for November 14 - 20, 2009

This week is filled with announcements. First, RealArcade and GameHouse have joined forces. So now there’s just GameHouse. If you have a RealArcade account, don’t worry. It’s been transferred over to GameHouse and you can still use it.
Second, Cute Knight Kingdom and Gyromancer are out! Both are highly anticipated games. One’s a Princess Maker style simulation from independent developer Hanako Games, the other is a puzzle RPG collaboration between Square Enix and PopCap. Gamertell even reviewed Cute Knight Kingdom yesterday.
Third, there were more than just four or five hidden object games released this week! Still no new Mac games, but plenty of new PC games making their debut!
This week’s best bets are: Cute Knight Kingdom (PC), Gyromancer (PC, Xbox Live Arcade) and Delicious: Emily’s Holiday Season (PC)...
Important Importables Review: DC-IE Import Enabler for Dreamcast

Moments after purchasing my Dreamcast at Goodwill, I began plotting which games I would import first. The Dreamcast had an adequate number of games released in North America, but there were more Japanese and European releases that were begging to be played.
Unfortunately, none of the boot disk programs seemed to work for me. I purchased 700mb, CD-Rs, tried burning a Utopia disk but found it was a futile endeavor. Even though my Dreamcast was one of the kinds that could read boot disks, I couldn’t get ones I made to work.
Thankfully, I happened upon the Dreamcast DC-IE Import Enabler at a local game store. $19.99 later, I was the proud owner of an unofficial boot disk that would hopefully work.
The DC-IE packaging is very clear and straightforward. It proclaims that the user can turn a U.S. Dreamcast to a region-free console with the single disk. The back of the case offers a partial list of import games that could be played, and the inside cover provides an even longer list of games that you can play now that you own the disk. It’s pretty comprehensive, mentioning obscure titles like Dancing Blade, Sakura Kinamoto Haagumi Mail and Sentimental Graffiti 2. Surprisingly, it doesn’t mention Shenmue 2.
Shiren the Wanderer Wii out February 2010, won’t have online features

While its great that Atlus is going to bring the Wii rogue-like RPG Shiren the Wanderer, it isn’t all good news. The Japanese version of the game was compatible with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, allowing people to download dungeon content, rescue other players, take part in versus multiplayer and trade items. Sadly, the North American release isn’t going to have all of that. It will have the downloadable dungeon included right away when you buy the game, but the other online options aren’t going to be available when the game comes out February 9, 2010.
The Wii version of Shiren the Wanderer is the third game in the series. In this adventure, Shiren gets the key to the Karakuri Mansion, and sets off to discover the truth behind a story that says a princess sleeps inside…
Dragon Age: Origins DLC Return to Ostagar out by the 2009 holiday season

If you’re enjoying Dragon Age: Origins and anxiously waiting for more DLC so there’s even more to love about the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game, there’s good news. EA is going to spread some holiday cheer in 2009 with a “Return to Ostagar” DLC pack for all versions of the game. An exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, just that it’ll be out around the holidays in both North America and Europe.
The latest quest is going to send players who purchase the DLC back to Ostagar. Originally in the game’s history, King Cailan of Ferelden and his Grey Wardens suffered defeat there, with Cailan losing his life in the ensuing battle…
Gamertell Review: Cute Knight Kingdom for PC
Hanako Games is an industrious, independent developer and publisher. It focuses on creating interesting, engaging and challenging girl-friendly games. Over the years it has created a number of successful titles like Cute Knight / Cute Knight Deluxe, Science Girls and Fatal Hearts. With Cute Knight Kingdom, Hanako returns to create a new life simulation game in the Cute Knight series.
Cute Knight Kingdom starts with the 18th birthday party for the heroine, a daughter of candle makers. At this party she discovers that she really isn’t their daughter. She was adopted by the candlemakers. Her mother found her outside as a baby, and a mysterious apparition in the sky asked her to watch over the little girl. It also said that it would return when she is 21, to see if she found her wings…
Ace Attorney WiiWare games coming to North America, too

It was big news when everyone discovered that the Ace Attorney DS games were being adapted for the Wii in Japan. It gets even better though, it’s coming to North America as well. Black Friday 2009: Toys R Us holds pre-Black Friday game sales, allows layaway for consoles and more
It’s a hectic time of year for consumers. There are pre-Black Friday sales. Thanksgiving Day sales, Black Friday sales and post-Black Friday sales. Thankfully, you’ll get a brief break for a few weeks in December, before the after Christmas and year end sales starts.
Toys R Us has announced yet another sale. Yeah, the weekend flier sales and Black Friday sale weren’t enough. This time Toys R Us has announced a sale that is going to run from November 22-26, 2009. Even better, many of the deals will be available online.
Here are the video game deals you’ll be able to find…
Black Friday 2009: Walmart’s video game sale items revealed
The ad that perhaps every Black Friday 2009 shopper has been waiting for has been leaked onto the internet. Walmart’s 2009 Black Friday ad has been scanned in and is ready for your critical perusal. From what I’ve seen of the ad, it looks like Walmart is going to be the main destination for a lot of people searching for toys this Christmas season. There’s a whole page with $5 toys. The page showing over 100 $2 DVDs on Friday, November 27, 2009 looks pretty intriguing as well.
There will be a doorbuster period, and it will last from 5am to 11am on Friday, November 27, 2009. So, let’s see what doorbusters are available first. The front page of the ad shows three doorbuster TVs, a $248 Emerson 32” 720p HDTV, a $449 Emerson 42” Plasma 720p HDTV and a $790 Sony Bravia 46” 1080p LCD HDTV. There will also be DS lites for $98. You can get a $128 Sansui 19” LCD HDTV or a $598 Sanyo 50” Plasma 720p HDTV during that time period. There will also be a HP Pavillion p6243w-b desktop computer with Windows 7, AMD, 3gb memory and 320gb hard drive for $398, a HP G60-519wm laptop computer with Windows 7, Intel, 3gb memory and 250gb hard drive for $298 and a eMachines eME627 laptop with Windows 7, AMD, 2gb memory and 160gb hard drive for $198.
There’s one more bit of good news. Sit down for this. See the front page of the ad? It says, and I quote, “Our stores will match the price of any local competitor’s printed ad for an identical product.” It may be a good idea to make Walmart your place to shop this Black Friday.
And now, on to the general video game sales…
