Appletell reviews the Moshi Voice Control Alarm Clock
What does an alarm clock have to do with Apple products? Not much, in this case. This is just an alarm clock, but with one fairly unique feature; it’s almost entirely voice activated. So, let’s say you’re getting a little to used to calling up your music by simply stating the name of the band and the song. Or maybe you use voice dialing on your iPhone pretty much every time you make a call. You can now carry that simplicity over to setting your alarm at night and waking up in the morning.
Is the iPad the future of portable computers?
On the day the iPad saw its released day announced, the good folks at TechVI invited Appletell over once more to discuss the future of portable computers with them and Donald Bell of CNET. Is the iPad the future? Will feature creep of such devices kill off single use items like MP3 players and e-book readers? Find out what we have to say about the matter on Friday’s edition of The Bottom Line.

The bulk of today’s Mac updates are all about making your system nice and shiny clean (and more efficient in the process). With the iPhone updates, we’ve got some beer goggles and sleeping pills. If that combination doesn’t sound productive, you can instead try pusme.to and the game Timeloop for free, give the kids My Colorz & Shapes, go on an ImageQuest and more.
Single Mac Gamer seeks companions for fun and pwnage
Mac gamers travel a hard, barren road. We kind of always have, aside from perhaps a brief moment where game developers mistakenly believed that all those little blue iMacs being sold would somehow result in hard core Mac gamers crawling from the woodwork like the thousand-legged bugs you usually on see in nightmares and boss battles. But that doesn’t mean Mac gamers should be without hope. That doesn’t mean that special game isn’t out there waiting for you.

Get ready for your NCAA tournament brackets with an iPhone app. You can also get ready for a (fictional) alien invasion with an iPhone app. Makes everything else seem kind of pointless, eh? Still, with MyTasks Pro, Budget iQ, Packing Pro and Fast Calc, there’s just nothing out there that can’t be tracked and calculated, even if none of that will matter after the aliens arrive.

There’s an app to help parents engage in deep conversations with their kids while on car trips? I wonder if, “You’d better quite down back there or I’m going to drop you off under this bridge and go to Grammie’s without you!” is in there. Anyway, we’ve got an app donating money to Chile, a photo contest, a pregnancy app, a Bible game, Utah, the New York Daily News, a countdown to the World Cup (they hold that every year?) and more.

Appletell reviews Bento 3 for Mac OS X
Bento 3 is to database programs what RapidWeaver and iWeb are to web development. There are more powerful, more functional, more expensive database programs out there, but through a simple interface and a wealth of pre-made templates, Bento 3 offers all the tools that many of us need. What’s more, it’s made by the same company that makes FileMaker Pro, likely the best database program available on the Mac, and arguably on all platforms.
