Free apps roundup for March 19th, 2010
I hope you like games, because that’s what’s hot on the App Store this week. They’re pretty diverse, from a first person shooter to a Tetris wannabe, so I’m sure there’s something here that will help the time go by. But don’t worry, there are some cool tools here too, and, as always, it’s all sans charge.
Buy only the maps you need with Navigon’s MyRegion GPS
Today, Navigon announced another App Store first with MyRegion, a guidance app with in-app map purchases in the U.S. MyRegions has all of the great features from the North American version of MobileNavigator that made it the best navigation app on the App Store. But what makes MyRegion different is that you can buy the maps that you need, when you need them, from inside of the app.
Appletell reviews the Just Mobile Lounge cradle
JustMobile is one of those companies that continues to think a little differently from the rest of the industry. This time, I’m taking a look at their new Lounge iDevice car cradle, which doesn’t attach to your windshield like you’d expect it to. Nah, instead, it sits on your dash, which might just make more sense anyway. There’s no suction cup to attach to your windshield. There are no GPS enhancements, but there are a lot of things to like about it.
Appletell reviews the Just Mobile Gum Plus Power Pack
As your iDevice ages, you may find yourself needing a little extra battery life. Even brand new iDevices may have a hard time keeping up with your demanding lifestyle. Thankfully, you have many options for extending your mobile (un)productivity with an external battery. As such, it’s pretty hard for individual options to stand out among the sea of batteries, but Just Mobile’s Gum Plus Power Pack most certainly does. Designed to fit right in with your MacBook Pro, the Gum Plus Power Pack will keep you topped off for days in style.
Free apps roundup for March 12th, 2010
You’ve all pre-ordered your iPad, right? Better get on that before the available stock is gone. And since you’re only about three weeks away from delivery, you should also stock on free games to transfer to it when it arrives. This week’s list is all about driving games, Twitter and limited time freebies. Half of this list won’t be free for long, so I’d better cut to the chase.
iPad preorders to start at 8:30 AM EST Friday
The early worm gets the Apple, so you’d better set your alarm just a little earlier tonight to make sure you get first dibs on that iPad you’ve had your eye on. Remember, WiFi only models will be available on April 3rd, and the 3G models will make their debut later in April. Reports are that you’ll be able to pre-order online at apple.com at 5:30am Pacific time on Friday, March 12th.
Apple’s iPad ad reveals new details
As reported at Appletell, the first TV ad for Apple’s iPad made it’s TV premiere during the Oscars. And you’re probably not surprised that the story doesn’t stop there. No, we actually gained some real information about the iBookstore, how documents may be stored on the iPhone, and a little more about the rumor that just won’t die, a front facing camera.
Appletell reviews HyperMac External Battery for Apple MacBook MBP-060
What’s worse than seeing your MacBook’s battery dip below 10%? Seeing it hit zero? Okay, fair enough. But if this happens to you often, you need a solution. HyperMac has an entire line of batteries just for this purpose. And yes, they come with MagSafe connections. But even if you just have an iPhone or iPad, the HyperMac MBP-060 has you more than covered.
Free apps roundup for March 5th, 2010
Wow, there were a ton of free apps this week new to the App Store. Lots of camera utilities. We’ve also got a definite download for any guitar players (or wannabes) out there, a way for urbanites to get from here to to your favorite bar or restaurant, your very own bleep button, a remote control from Pioneer, and a few games, including another flavor from Touch Pet. I just can’t resist virtual pets. Sorry.
Appletell reviews the Dexim P-Flip Foldable Power Dock
In a sea of boxy, single purpose batteries, one company dares to think different. The Dexim P-Flip is among the best choices among iPhone batteries available now. While nearly all other batteries on the market are just thatbatteriesDexim has put some useful thought into this product. The Dexim P-Flip is more than just a battery; it’s that, a stand and a syncing cradle. What else do you want?
