The Boosted Tin Can Speaker Set: Artistic simplicity and ingenuity

by Marjorie Dorfman on Nov 14, 2007 at 04:36 PM

Tin Can Art

It is often said that inspiration for artistic expression comes from every day life and all of the things that comprise it, which of course varies from person to person. Nowhere is this more evident than in the dynamic world of technology where advancements are pretty and colorful with artistic designs crossing our paths every day. Enter the Boosted Mobile Tin Can Speaker Set Volume 1 inspired by one of the simplest tried and true methods of communication; two tin cans and a string.

If all of this evokes memories of carefree, pre-pubescent school days, encroaching acne and who knows what else, bear in mind that’s what it’s supposed to do. Talk about a limited edition. Only 400 of these speaker sets are available for sale. This cool, battery-operated combo is fully portable and compatible with most audio sources; just about anything, in fact, with a 1/8” input. This includes cell phones, music players, computers and video game consoles.

The Boosted Tin Can Speaker Set Volume 1 features the collaborative artwork of two street artists, MINT (Mikhail Sokovikov) and SERF (Jason Wall) coupled with the designer expertise of Dean Bradley of MAINFRAME toy fame. The speaker set comes equipped with stands and cables but requires 4AA batteries, which are not included.

Priced at $99.99, you better hurry and get your speaker set before the price goes up!  Return to those days of yesteryear with the Boosted Tin Can Speaker Set Volume 1. When can we expect to see Volume 2? That’s anyone’s guess, unless that is, you have an inside line to the artists who created the first 400.

Let artistic expression ring or at least…bang!
