Disney is planning to re-enter the mobile market, strangely their re-entry is being announced before they even officially shut down the first. This past September, Disney announced their plans to shut down Disney Mobile here in the US effective December 31, 2007.
The re-entry will remain out of the US and launch in Japan only. Disney plans to launch this spring using Softbank Corp’s network along with selling the phones in their existing 2,464 stores. This move makes Disney the first mobile company to launch and use another carriers network, Softbank is currently the number 3 mobile phone carrier in Japan.
