iTunes drops DRM-free music to .99 cents

iTunes now down to 99 cents

It was previously speculated that iTunes would indeed drop their DRM-free songs to .99 cents, but it wasn’t confirmed until now. It was a good move on Apple’s part to finally do this to compete with the other online music sellers such as Amazon and Wal-Mart. Their DRM-free music was already cheaper than the $1.29 Apple previously offered them for.

El Jobso first confirmed this to the Wall Street Journal and he had this to say regarding it,

“It’s been very popular with our customers, and we’re making it even more affordable,“

Additionally, Apple plans to add indie songs to the mix and all songs should be at the .99 cent rate very soon. Lastly, it is still unknown whether people who have DRM music are allowed to upgrade it to DRM-free since its all the same price now - they may have to pay extra.
