Mercedes provides users with Search & Send

by Natesh Sood on Sep 8, 2007 at 11:57 PM

Mercedes Google and Yahoo Local Maps Service

Google seems to be working with a few car manufacturers, but Mercedes will be first to capatalize on the partnership with a new service called Search & Send.

Basically, this service works by beginning a search online of either Google or Yahoo Local maps and them sending the map you desire to your gorgeous Mercedes. Then you will have to download the map and it will then display on the Navigation system.  Unfortunately, this service is not going to work with all Mercedes cars, so far the only models that can have Search & Send are the 07 S-Class, CL-Class, and 08 C-Class with the Multimedia Package and Navigation System. Another catch involves the technology behind sending the map from your computer to your car, the Mercedes-Benz Tele Aid System. This will be given out as a complimentary subscription, but will only last for a year.

This went live on September 5th. However, no word on how much the Mercedes-Benz Tele Aid System actually costs after the subscription ends, and without the subscription, the Search & Send service is pretty much pointless.
