Quick Start Sharp Blu-ray player

A new Blu-Ray player, from Sharp, boasts a hallowed feature. The BD-HP20S is said to have Quick Start functionality. This means that once you pop the disc in, the video should start playing immediately.

The key word is “should”. Sharp has not said how quick this Quick Start feature actually is. Though I personally have not touched a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player, I have heard that speed is not their forte.

Quickness, or lack thereof, aside, the BD-HP20S has other features that you’d come to expect from near-2nd Generation players. It has the latest iteration of HDMI, 1.3, for a convenient all-in-one link for audio and video. It can output High Definition content in 1080p resolution at a stellar, 24 frames per second.

It should drop from Sharp late this year for a price of, judging from recent trends, under 500 dollars.
