Google Maps catch trains and buses

by JG Mason on Jun 6, 2007 at 10:29 PM

google train infoGoogle quietly added a nifty feature to help us navigate cities just a little bit better.  Active now, click on a transit icon and you’ll see subway or bus lines that stop at that station.  Handy for out-of-towners planning a trip.

Apparently in some cities, clicking on the bubble that is brought up with line information will get you time schedules (my tests didn’t bring that up though, so it looks to be an ongoing rolling out).  Bringing this wealth of information to us in easy-to-digest form is really what Google does best.

What’s more, from Google Labs, with Google Transit you can plan a trip in the city and Google will optimize your bus/train routes to get you to your destination on time.  Pretty cool.
