Zune firmware update to allow wireless downloads

by Robert Nelson on May 10, 2007 at 06:46 PM

zune wireless downloadEngadget has posted some blurry (but yet believable) images of the Zune downloading some music tracks over a wireless connection. Making the included Wi-Fi feature somewhat more what everyone has been looking for. It appears from the picture that this is downloading tracks from the Zune Marketplace, with no word on if this can or will support subscriptions and syncing for podcasts. I would like this more if I could download items I choose, not just from the Marketplace but I suppose this is at least a good first step to making that Wi-Fi actually useful.

These pictures combined with the recent rumors about an upcoming Flash based Zune are making it look like the next announcement from Microsoft concerning the Zune could be very interesting.

When do you think this update will come out

Andrew, never. That is counterfit. That picture just shows Zune with an image corresponding a UI. That isn’t a Screen you can get out of your own Zune or anything… That’s simply bogus.
