Devicescape connects your devices to any Wi-Fi network

by Adam Berger on Dec 12, 2006 at 06:57 AM

Devicescape wifi hotspotDevicescape enables mobile wireless devices to connect to any supported Wi-Fi hotspot or municipal network. Once the device and the network are set up from the Devicescape Web site, connecting is automatic. As you approach a Wi-Fi network, your device automatically connects and is ready to use.

To set up, you need to sign onto the beta trial, download the software, add devices (currently supports PC’s running Windows XP, any Wi-Fi enabled Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone, the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet, and Linksys WIP300 Wireless-G IP Phone), and connect to AT&T Wi-Fi, FON, Google Wi-Fi, or T-Mobile USA hotspots.

For example, with Devicescape, using a VoIP or Skype phone at a hotspot is now possible. Moreover, mobile devices that don’t have a browser, like MP3 players and digital cameras, will be able to connect.  In addition, with Devicescape, connecting your laptop to a hotspot is automatic.  No more scanning for networks, finding your account information and configuring your laptop.  And, Devicescape automatically connects you to every network your provider has a roaming agreement with, extending your overall coverage.

Now that is a company taking one step into the future.
