In what looks like an effort to jumpstart their own Video service, Yahoo has announced plans to acquire a similar service, Jumpcut.  Jumpcut is similar to Yahoo Video (and YouTube, Google Video, MetaCafe, Revver, etc…) in that it is a social video sharing site.  The part that’s different than any other offer out there is the ability for users to edit their videos right on the web - or Remix others’.  Instead of having to resort to Final Cut or iMovie, all you need is your browser.

Yahoo’s plans likely involve integrating Jumpcut’s editing and Remix software with their own Yahoo Video.  The Jumpcut Blog post found here looks familiar to me.  Oh that’s because it’s practically the same post del.icio.us had when they got bought by Yahoo back in December 2005.  It’s funny when people get bought they give what seems like a podium speech at an awards ceremony;  “I’d like to thank my dog Adam and everyone who got me here.“
